This Fall issue of TEN, or T E News, tackles a big subject: entertainment. The word, whose roots in Medieval Latin go back to the Indo-European tenere, means “to hold inside.” To entertain is to hold something inside, whether it’s laughter or attention or a new way of thinking. It’s easy to see why the idea of holding something inside is so compelling. But what does that mean in practice?
